Destination Wedding France – A Catholic-Jewish Wedding on the French Pyrenees
Home, is where I want to be
But I guess I’m already there
I come home, she lifted up her wings
I guess that this must be the place
I can’t tell one from the other
I find you, or you find me?
There was a time before we were born
If someone asks, this is where I’ll be, where I’ll be.
Talking Heads – This Must Be The Place
A tale of Love and Emotions in the French Pyrenees!
This has been my first work as a destination wedding photographer: it was the first wedding I’ve ever shot out of Italy.
I and Alba have been embraced by the spouses as two friends, hosting us in their home, close to their families.
The couple, as well as almost all the guests, comes from Paris. We understood that Aynac “must be the place” for the wedding as the bride’s mum was born in that town, and the main part of the wedding took place in the little “cabin in the woods” belonging to the family, full of lifelong memories.
The ceremony was celebrated under a covered gazebo, following the Jewish tradition. The closest friends and parents of the spouses stood with them under the gazebo, as well as the rabbi, his wife, and the priest.
The Bride came to the ceremony on one of her father’s horses and walked the aisle next to him.
After some songs and lectures, the central part of the ceremony begun: the rabbi read some parts of the Torah, drank from the glass of wine, and the groom did the same. After having broken the glass (Mazel-tov!) the priest blessed the rings the spouses exchanged.
It was a very peculiar and emotional ceremony, very different from any other I’ve ever witnessed.
After the ceremony the first part of the reception begun right in the same house. There, the groom’s father and some friends of the couple had some speeches and sang songs for them, entertaining the guests with laughs and emotions.
As well as the guests left for the wedding location, we shot some couple photos and videos with the spouses and some others next to the wedding reception venue. entirely decorated by the spouses themselves.
As soon as the spouses arrived, after a shot of pastis, they got to the dance floor and really rocked it!
It was a really unique wedding, and I will never forget it.
