Armenian Wedding in Venice – Wedding in Malamocco, Venice
What I love the most about my job is that it gives me the chance to see a lot of different types of weddings, a lot of different cultures and people coming from all over the world.
When I first started talking with Mikaela and Octavio, I fell in love with their love story: they met for beautiful chances, and two worlds came together.
She is from Sweden, he comes from Argentina but has Italian and Armenian origins. They met and fell in love in London, and they couldn’t be separate ever since. They chose to have a traditional Armenian wedding ceremony, with a twist – enjoy this beautiful, romantic Armenian wedding in Venice!
Mikaela and Octavio wanted to have a beautiful destination wedding in Venice with their closest friends and relatives, coming from all over the world.
However, they didn’t want the typical wedding in Venice – therefore, they decided to rent the whole Relais Alberti, a beautiful hotel and villa in Malamocco, in the Lido of Venice, for a full-weekend wedding and party!
The islands outside Venice are stunning, so authentic and unique. And I totally loved the style Mikaela and Octavio chose!
They got ready in the Relais, in two different suites, together with their closest friends. Mikaela chose a stunning, 50s style short dress – I loved that!
They had their first look in the square of Malamocco, and we shot a few couple photos while walking to the water taxi.
The bride, the groom, and their witnesses had to come to Malamocco before the other guests to define the last details of the ceremony with the Armenian priest.
San Lazzaro degli Armeni is a truly amazing reality, an island in which the time seems to have frozen. There, an ancient Armenian community lives and keeps alive an ancient, beautiful religion. The whole island is a monastery, and its church is a true gem: words cannot describe its beauty!
As all the guests arrived, the bride and groom walked the aisle together and exchanged their rings as the ceremony begun. Then, they walked to the altar where the proper Armenian ceremony took place. They had the Crowning of the Spouses, a traditional East-Christian ceremony, and all the prayers were sung in the ancient Armenian language. It was a truly impressive ceremony, so beautiful and different from what I am used to shooting!
After the ceremony, we all went back to Malamocco where I shot some more couple portraits to the newlyweds. Then, we all came back to the Relais for the dinner and wedding party.
I totally loved this Armenian Wedding in Venice, as much as I love all the different types of ceremonies!
